Enhancements

Enhancements work around technical issues between vanilla resources and Minecraft's ray tracing, and improve how blocks and entities look wherever possible.

They're developed separately and merged into every public Vanilla RTX release, and into updates delivered by the Vanilla RTX App, where you can switch them off if you'd rather stick to officially supported features. For most people, you'll want them on.

Glowing entities

Eyes that actually glow

Mobs that have glowing parts in vanilla Minecraft now show that same glow with ray tracing.

Invisibility

Invisible means invisible

The invisibility effect now properly hides the models of spiders, cave spiders, phantoms and endermen when ray tracing is on.

Enhanced candles

A wick that burns

Unlike similar light sources, candles have no point light. Their appearance has been improved with an emissive wick (1.21.80+).

Foliage

Cross-shaped blocks, fixed

A universal workaround for rendering errors on cross-shaped blocks, foliage and crops with ray tracing (MCPE-189266).

Decorated pots

Pots that look like pots

Decorated pot textures display incorrectly with ray tracing by default (MCPE-167161). Not anymore.

Entities

No more black mobs

  • Breeze, Warden, the Creaking and more no longer render with black textures; the Wither, breeze wind and projectiles are improved for ray tracing with their texture animations restored (MCPE-157438, MCPE-141530, MCPE-183631).
  • Missing copper golem eyes are back (MCPE-227676), and now glow with a unique bloom that wanes as the golem oxidizes.
  • Villager and zombie villager texture issues are resolved, and their models have more detail (MCPE-111414).
  • The Sulfur Cube's rendering issues with ray tracing are fixed.

Known remaining issues with villagers: a larger performance impact when many are present, possible texture z-fighting without ray tracing, and occasional head flicker with ray tracing.

The Creaking

Eyes in the dark

The Creaking's eyes now glow like Eyeblossoms, with a unique bloom effect. They stay visible even when the Creaking itself is invisible, and its black texture issues are resolved.

Lighting

Point lights that keep working

Workarounds that keep light sources which used to have point lights functional (MCPE-227624).

XP orbs

Full-size experience

A workaround for XP orb textures always appearing small due to broken UV animations (MCPE-183629).

Iron golems

Cracks, rendered right

Iron golem texture crack rendering issues are resolved.

Rasterized parts

Every part, ray traced

Workarounds for entities with invisible or unintentionally rasterized parts: the snow golem's head, mooshroom mushrooms, and blocks inside minecarts (issue #28), plus glitched hopper minecarts (MCPE-241124).

Tropical fish

Fins, intact

Tropical fish patterns now composite properly when the fish's base layer is transparent, which used to make large parts of their fins invisible with ray tracing.

Chiseled bookshelves

Books you can see

Chiseled bookshelves are now functional with ray tracing; see the Vanilla RTX 1.21.50 changelog for how the workaround works (MCPE-166159).

Cats

Whole-cat shadows

Tamed cats now cast a shadow with their entire body.

Cauldrons

Water that looks like water

Water in cauldrons no longer uses the wrong texture, which gave it a rough appearance unlike water.

Jack o'Lanterns

Light from every side

The Jack o'Lantern now emits light from all sides, matching its vanilla look and function more closely.

Tridents & fireworks

No more black models

In-world models of enchanted tridents and firework rockets no longer appear black.

Doors

Colour-corrected doors

Doors usually look much darker with ray tracing (MCPE-121412). This workaround corrects their colours where possible; doors that are already brightly coloured can't be fully corrected.

Particles

Particles that belong

Every rasterized particle has been adjusted where needed to blend in with the ray-traced world.

The Enderman

You made it this far

With his bright purple gaze, the Enderman congratulates you for making it all the way down here.

Several other fixes and enhancements are included but left off this page to keep it short. The goal of the Enhanced option is to resolve as many issues as possible.
